To lay down a procedure for cleaning & sanitation of microbiology lab.
2.0 SCOPE:
This procedure is applicable for cleaning & sanitation of microbiology lab .

5.0 PROCEDURE:
5.1 The area of Microbiology lab consists of :-
General Microbiology Lab (Media preparation, Incubator room, Instrument Room, Micro Wash Area & Media Sterilization Room). Aseptic area (Airlock-I, Airlock-II, Airlock-III & LAF room).
5.2 Cleaning procedure for General microbiology lab:-
Sweep the floor to remove the dust using nylon static broom, daily in the morning, evening & if required. Wipe the floor with the disinfectant daily after sweeping. Empty the waste bins twice daily and clean the bins with disinfectant solution. Clean the door glasses with dry cloth followed by spraying the glass cleaning solution (Colin). Clean and sanitize the media preparation table and washing area table with 70% IPA v/v. Clean the sink with the detergent and sanitize daily after completion of the work. Clean the pass box with IPA 70%. Record the details of activity in cleaning and sanitation of general microbiology lab record in Annexure.
5.3 Cleaning procedure for Aseptic area :-
Clean the floor, walls and ceiling with sterile water and wipe with sterile lint free mop. After that wipe the floor, walls and ceiling with disinfectant solution by sterile lint free mop. Use the disinfectant (Savlon 2.5%, Dettol 2.5% & Isopropyl Alcohol 70%) on alternative basis. Preparation record of disinfectant .

Walls : Weekly
Ceiling : Fortnightly
