SOP for operation & calibration of pH meter

1. OBJECTIVE:

To lay down a procedure for Operation & Calibration of pH meter.

• SCOPE:

This procedure is applicable for procedure for Operation & Calibration of pH meter.

• RESPONSIBILITY:

QC Officer/ QC Executive

• ACCOUNTABILITY:

QC Manager.

• PROCEDURE:
  • Operation Procedure for check the pH:
    • Ensure that the instrument is clean and suitable for use.
    • Switch ‘ON’ the mains.
    • Ensure the calibration of instrument is done.
    • Before put the electrode in sample proper wash with purified water and mop with tissue paper.
    • Press the MODE key.
    • If measure the pH Press the Meas and then press the ENTER key.
    • Wait for stabilizing.
    • Display the pH in 0.00, note the pH.
  • Calibration of pH meter:
    • Ensure that the instrument is clean and suitable for use.
    • Switch ‘ON’ the mains.
    • Before put the electrode in buffer pH 7.00 proper wash with purified water and mop with tissue paper.
    • Press the MODE key, and press the Meas key for the reading.
    • Then change buffer solution 4.0 & 9.2 and note down.
    • Prepared the pH buffer solution and note down record, Limit-±0.05.
