- OBJECTIVE
To lay down the procedure for cleaning of filters.
- SCOPE
This SOP is applicable in Engineering for cleaning of filters.

- PROCEDURE
- Switch off the Air Handling Unit (AHU) of which filters to be cleaned and display the `Under Maintenance’ status label.
- Person carrying out the filter cleaning activity should
wear following apparel:
- Clean apron & Cap
- Nose mask
- Rubber hand gloves
- Open the access door of filter section and grill of return.
- Remove all the filters and put it into the polythene bag.
- Close the access door & grill of return of filter section.
- All filters shall cover in polythene bag.
- Take the filters to ‘Filter Cleaning Area’.
- Remove the filters from polythene bag in filter cleaning room and put the filter in reverse direction to the normal flow of filter in filter cleaning both.
- Ensure the required utility provided to the system.
- Switch on the power.
- Open the compressed air valve and clean the filter with using compressed air and allow it to dry. Ensure that filters are visually cleaned.
- Close the ‘compressed air’ valve.
- Open the water tap and clean the filters with Potable water.
- For drying the cleaned filter again open the compressed air valve and dry the filter.
- Close the ‘compressed air’ valve.
- Remove the filter from filter cleaning station and check visually for its integrity.
- Drain out the water from after cleaning the filters.
- Put the filter into fresh transparent polythene bag and transfer to respective area.
- Switch off power supply after completion of activity.
- Open the access door or grill, wipe the filter section, coil section, grill and blower using dry and clean duster.
- Fix back the clean filter in the filter section.
- Close the access door or grill ensure no leakage from door gasket and grill.
- Maintain the record of filter cleaning (Annexure-I).
- Ensure the power that it should be off before opening the access door or grill of AHU.
- Wear necessary apparel during filter cleaning.
- Frequency:
- Weekly for return filter (Riser).
- Every 15 days for AHU filter.
- Sampling booth (RLAF) riser after sampling completion of API Materials.
- Dispensing booth (RLAF) riser after complete batch dispensing.
