OPERATION OF AHU

  1. OBJECTIVE

              To lay down the procedure for operation of AHU.

  • SCOPE

This SOP is applicable in Engineering for operation of AHU.

  •     PROCEDURE
    • Operation: Pre Startup Checks:
      • Ensure that the electrical supply is available for Air Handling Units.
      • Ensure & Check chilled water is flowing through cooling coil by observing the pressure gauge located in the outlet line. Out let pressure shall be NLT 1.0 Kg/cm2.
      • Ensure & Check Hot water flowing through Hot water heating coil by observing the pressure gauge located in the outlet line. Out let pressure shall be NLT 1.0 Kg/cm2.
      • Hooter alarm shall be ON at the time of AUH ON & at the time of OFF it shall be OFF
    • Switching ON the Air Handling Unit:
      • Switch ON the Air Handling Units by pressing the green button on the panel and red indicator should glow Check Motor bearings and lubricate the bearings.
      • Air Handling Units shall run continuously until unless it is informed by concerned department.
      • Sequence of Switching ON the Air Handling unit.
      • When the AHU is in OFF condition, first switch ON the more pressurized area AHU, with respect to adjacent area AHU.
      • Then switch ‘ON’ the less pressurized area AHU & continue the series according to the area pressure.
      • When the AHU is in running condition, first switch OFF the less pressurized area AHU, with respect to adjacent area AHU.
      • Ware House department Chemist / Officer shall be responsible for air handling unit ON OFF    procedure for all sampling & dispensing area AHU.

Note: If Hooter alarm show, stop the AHU & check AHU for any abnormality

  • Sequence of Switching OFF the Air Handling unit:
  • Get the confirmation from concerned department for switching OFF the Air Handling Unit.
  • AHU operation record shall be maintained by operator and verified by concern department.
    • Check the Manometer reading for cleaning condition of filter. It should be between 5 – 20 mmHg. If it shows out of specification, clean the filter.
    • Record the reading of manometer.
    • Operate the AHU of core area on 24 Hour basis. Supervisor shall switch OFF AHU, after getting written information from user department.
    • Engineering department shall inform to concern department for filter cleaning & Preventive maintenance of AHU.
