PROCEDURE FOR MICROBIAL CONTAMINATION TEST FOR COMPRESSED AIR

  1. OBJECTIVE:

To lay down a procedure for microbial contamination test for compressed air.

  • SCOPE:

This procedure is applicable for procedure for microbial contamination test for compressed air.

  • RESPONSIBILITY:

Microbiologist

  • ACCOUNTABILITY:

QC Manager.

  •  PROCEDURE:
    • Take the sample by auto sampler, Note down the sampling details of compressed air.
    • Use the preincubated plate in the air sampler. Prepare the preincubated plate: 28G of nutrient agar mix with purified water to 100ml sterilize by steam sterilizer at 1210C, 15 lbs for 15 min.
    • Total Bacterial Contamination:
    • Pass the sample about 10 liter by air sampler.
    • Incubate the plate at 30-350C for 5 days.
    • Acceptance criteria: should be absent /10 lit. sample
    • Total Fungal Contamination:
    • Pass the sample about 10 liter by air sampler.
    • Incubate the plate at 20-250C for 5 days.
    • Acceptance criteria: should be absent /10 lit. sample
    • Maintain the record.

Trainer   : Manager – Quality Control

Trainees : Staff of the microbiology departments
