Standard Operating Procedure for Manual Titration

  1. OBJECTIVE:

To lay down a procedure for manual titration.

  • SCOPE:

This procedure is applicable for procedure for manual titration.

  • RESPONSIBILITY:

QC Officer/ QC Executive

  • ACCOUNTABILITY:

QC Manager

  •  PROCEDURE:
    • Before planning for manual titration of sample ensure the availability all the test solution, volumetric solution, which are required for titration.
    • If the volumetric solution is not available prepare and standardize the volumetric solution as per procedure.
    • Ensure the glassware cleaning, which are to be used for titration.
    • Fill volumetric solution into the Burette and rinse with same solution and discard the same.
    • Again fill the volumetric solution into the Burette and adjust till zero labels.
    • Weigh accurately sample and transfer it to conical flask, make necessary dilution and add indicator as per titration procedure of sample.
    • Start titration by slowly adding volumetric solution from burette and also ensure that at   the time of end point addition of volumetric solution should be drop wise for obtaining sharp end point.
    • Perform blank titration if in titration procedure of sample and subtract that volume from final titration reading and calculate as per calculation procedure.
